Hunter Runes from SoD Phase 3

All Runes in Phase 3 have the same location for both Alliance and Horde.

T.N.T Rune

This Rune requires Friendly reputation with Emerald Wardens. Once you are Friendly, check in with an Emerald Wardens Quartermaster and purchase your Rune for 1 60.

Focus Fire Rune

Searing Gorge

Find a long branch overhanging a cavern starting at /way 55 51. Walk very carefully across it toward a Stormcrow Nest.

After reaching the Stormcrow Nest, loot the

Stormcrow Egg to cause an Enraged Stormcrow to spawn. Kill the Enraged Stormcrow to loot the Rune.

Raptor Fury Rune

Drops from Zopilote – 43 Elite, /way 43 33

Lock and Load Rune

Pick up the quest The Wild Gods from Shadowtooth Emissary in Emerald Sanctuary, Felwood, /way 51.5 82. This initial quest is not shareable; everyone will need to pick it up for themselves.
Only one player in a group needs to have done this step: Go to Jinth’Alor in the Hinterlands. Kill elite trolls to obtain Wildwhisper Draught.
Go to Razorfen Downs and clear the area around Amnennar the Coldbringer. Drink Wildwhisper Draught to spawn Spirit of Agamaggan. Speak to him to get a quest and Agamaggan’s Roar. Only one player needs to drink the draught to spawn him.
You can either do all three Dungeons for variety, or you can do multiple runs on the same dungeon. There is no difference between the Wild Offering drops among the three mobs. Since Wild Offering also becomes a currency (see Tips below), you will want to farm more of these anyway.

In each of these three Dungeons related to this Rune, you will need to kill specific mobs in to spawn a ghostly mob.

This ghostly mob can be killed once per Dungeon lockout, meaning resetting the same Dungeon and running it again is a valid strategy. When you trigger the conditions for the ghostly mob, you get a chat emote “You feel a shadowed presence”. Use Agamaggan’s Roar near the ghostly mob; this makes a level 52 elite called the Delirious Ancient turn hostile. Each Ancient drops 1x Wild Offering:
- Zul’Farrak: Clear any three bosses to spawn a Ghostly Spider to summon Delirious Ancient.
- Maraudon: Clear Princess Theradras area and spawn a Ghostly Raptor to summon Delirious Ancient. The Ghostly Raptor is in the water on the upper level near the turtles; do NOT jump down for it.
- Blackrock Depths: Kill all three boss encounters — High Interrogator Gerstahn, Houndmaster Grebmar, and the Ring of Law event — to spawn a Ghostly Basilisk on the Dark Iron Highway (road to Bael’gar) to summon Delirious Ancient.
Once you have collected all three Wild Offerings, return to Shadowtooth Emissary to collect your Rune.

Catlike Reflexes Rune

Head to the Yeti Cave in Feralas and head to the back (/way 53 60). Here, you’ll find a baby monkey called the Groddoc Infant.
Feed the Groddoc Infant a banana (either Soft Banana Bread or Tel’Abim Banana works — Deep Fried Plantains does not).
Bring the Groddoc Infant to the Groddoc Matriarch at (/way 59 58) within 10 minutes.

Rapid Killing Rune

Searing Gorge: Go to the cave west of the flight point, entrance around /way 22 36.
Deep inside the cave, you will find a Weathered Etching. It’s near the top of the middle section where a large pillars stand, /way 14.5 36.5. You can death your way in if necessary (see Tips). Click on the Weathered Etching to pick up the quest The Burning Beast (minimum level 45); this leads you to the Blasted Lands.
In Blasted Lands, speak to Bloodmage Lynnore. She is just west of the road near the entrance to Stonard, /way 50.6 14.2. Turn in your quest and pick up Chains That Bind. This instructs you collect 5x Infernal Chain Link, which are dropped by Shadowsworn.

You can find Shadowsworn on either the eastern or western walls of the zone – lower-level 51-53 ones like Shadowsworn Cultist are on the eastern-central wall, while higher-level 53-55 ones such as Shadowsworn Dreadweaver are on the western-central wall.
After turning these in to Bloodmage Lynnore, you will receive a new quest, Brought to Heel. This time, gather Fel Lifeblood from Calefactus the Unleashed, a level 50 Corehound. Lynnore will give you an Infernal Lasso to weaken Calefactus.
Return to Bloodmage Lynnore. You will be awarded an Infernal Lasso and the Rune of the Ravenous.

Hunter Runes from SoD Phase 2

All Runes in Phase 2 have the same location for both Alliance and Horde.

Melee Specialist Rune

Travel to Deadwind Pass and speak with the Dalaran Agent at Ariden’s Camp (/way 52 35). They will give you Ariden’s Sigil.
With Ariden’s Sigil equipped, or while with another player that has Ariden’s Sigil equipped, players must find and kill seven Dark Rider Elites after using Ariden’s Sigil to Reveal Dark Rider, which will reward them with a different Dalaran Relic. Players will know a Dark Rider is nearby if they obtain the Dark Presence buff.
- Deadwind Pass: the Dark Rider can be found at (/way 43 29) and drops Curious Dalaran Relic.
- Duskwood: the Dark Rider can be found at (/way 23 47) and drops Glittering Dalaran Relic.
- Swamp of Sorrows: the Dark Rider can be found at (/way 69 28).
- Arathi Highlands: the Dark Rider can be found at (/way 60 40).
- Badlands: the Dark Rider can be found at (/way 58 54).
- The Barrens: the Dark Rider can be found at (/way 52 36).
- Desolace: the Dark Rider can be found at (/way 65 25).
- It is unknown which Dark Rider drops each of the remaining Relics, but the Relics are as follows: Odd Dalaran Relic, Whirring Dalaran Relic, Heavy Dalaran Relic, Slippery Dalaran Relic, Creepy Dalaran Relic.
Once players have obtained all Dalaran Relics, return to the Dalaran Agent and turn in each of the various reward quests for experience and some silver:
Once all seven Dalaran Relics have been returned, players will obtain this Rune as a final reward.

Expose Weakness Rune

Badlands

Kill Dustbelcher Ogre in Badlands until you get a Primitive Drawing drop. This gives the quest Terror of the Desert Skies. Turn in Terror of the Desert Skies to Hemet Nesingwary in Stranglethorn Vale.
Receive a cage from Hemet Nesingwary and use it to capture any critter.
Return to the Badlands and go to the southwestern part of the zone, /way 22 67. Find a large bird’s nest. Use the critter as bait to lure down Gharrik, a level 40 bird. Kill Gharrik and loot the Crimson Trophy Quill.
Return the quill to Hemet Nesingwary and get the Rune of Expose Weakness.

Steady Shot Rune

Arathi Highlands

Needletooth – A fish in Witherbark Village lake, near /way 66 60.5. About a 60-second spawn timer.
(It’s A fish. You don’t have to fish anything up. No pole required!)

Dual Wield Specialization Rune

Stranglethorn Vale

Go to coordinates /way 31.8 15.7, southwest of the Nesingwary camp. You’ll get a Danger! buff.
Use Flare to reveal the Bloodscalp Guerrilla. He may not spawn right near you; he seems to roam around in the area.
Kill the Bloodscalp Guerrilla and loot the Rune of the Scrapper.

Invigoration Rune

Swamp of Sorrows

Find Amaryllis Webb at /way 25.0 54.2. She sells an Entomology Starter Kit for 50. This contains a net and a guide.

Stranglethorn Vale

Go to the Lake Nazferiti logging camp and catch a bug located on a tree stump around /way 45 19.

Arathi Highlands

Go to the Northfold Manor and catch a bug located around /way 31 28.

Desolace

Go to the the Kodo Graveyard and catch a bug located around /way 51 59.

Swamp of Sorrows

Return to Amaryllis Webb and get the Rune for your bug-hunting prowess.

Trap Launcher Rune

Desolace

Obtain the Highway Robbery quest in Desolace at an Extinguished Campfire northwest of the Kodo Graveyard, /way 47 54
Go to /way 63 39, near Kormek’s Hut. Turn it in to Bibbly F’utzbuckle and pick up the quest On the Lam.

Booty Bay

Go to the inn in Booty Bay. Turn On the Lam in Tokal, and pick up Cherry for Your Thoughts?. Buy her Cherry Grog. She will send you on the next part of your quest, No Honor Among Thieves.

Arathi Highlands

There is Rowboat under the bridge between Arathi Highlands and the Wetlands, around /53 91 on the Arathi Highlands map. Interact with the boat and you will be teleported to the eastern shore.
Find Illari Duskfeather and speak with her. For most races, she will give (two equally hostile) dialogue options; upon choosing one, she will fight you. Defeat her, pick up the dropped bag and loot Illari’s Key. Open the chest and loot the Rune.

Hunter Runes from SoD Phase 1

In Phase 1, most early Runes have different locations for either Alliance or Horde. Higher level Runes do have the same discovery location for both factions.

Master Marksman Rune

Hunters must find a Rustling Bush and use their Hunter’s Mark on it. This will spawn a Poacher mob (Razormane Poacher, Fallenroot Poacher, or Venture Co. Poacher), which drops the rune when killed.

Flanking Strike Rune

Drops off Mowgh. Summon it at (/way 48.3, 31.4) by using Teldrassil Bird Meat from Strigid Owl in the area.

Dun Morogh

Drops off Jorul. Summon it at (/way 37.9 42.5) by using Dun Morogh Pig Meat found on nearby Boars.

Horde

Mulgore

Drops off Mokwa. Summon it at (/way 36, 57) by using Mulgore Bird Meat found on nearby Swoops.

Durotar

Drops off Raluk. Summon it at (/way 68.7, 71.4) by using Durotar Pig Meat from Dire Mottled Boar in the area.

Carve Rune

You will need to use your Tame Beast ability (available at level 10) in conjunction with the item. You do NOT need to tame or abandon your current hunter pet to do this. And fun fact: you can continue to collect and use these to create little tamed pets after you’ve gotten your rune!

Use Deer Musk to tame a Deer. Once you’ve tamed it, speak to Relaeron next to the Hunter trainer in Darnassus (/way 39.8, 9.4).

Dun Morogh

Use Rabbit Musk to tame a Rabbit. Once you’ve tamed it, speak to Toby at Amberstill Ranch (/way 63.4 50.2)

Horde

Mulgore

Use Prairie Dog Musk to tame a Prairie Dog. Once you’ve tamed it, speak to Takoda Sunmane in Bloodhoof Village (/way 46.2, 60.3).

Durotar

Use Adder Pheromone to tame an Adder. Once you’ve tamed it, speak to Razzil in Razor Hill (/way 52.2 43.8).

Beast Mastery Rune

Alliance

Westfall

Loot Goretusk Haunch from Goretusk mobs. Use this bait at a Coyote Dwelling near the coast (/way 32.8, 35.9) to spawn Silverspur, then kill it for the rune.

Darkshore

Kill Furbolgs in the camp (/way 38.66, 56.89) until one drops Crab Treats. Find a Young Reef Crawler on the nearby beach and give it the Crab Treats, which in turn will grant the Rune.

Loch Modan

Found in a Trophy Case next to Daryl the Youngling (/way 83.4 65.2).

Horde

Silverpine Forest

Kill Ferocious Grizzled Bear until a Grizzled Protector spawns. Kill this Elite bear for the Rune.

The Barrens

Just North of Camp Taurajo (around /way 44.4 55.4), there is a Patrolling Cheetah that has a speed buff. In order to remove this buff, you must drop a trap on his path. Once the buff has been removed, you can kill the Patrolling Cheetah and loot the Rune.

Serpent Spread Rune

Rune of Serpent Spread is purchasable for 2 when you reach Friendly with the new Supply Factions, Durotar Supply and Logistics for Horde players and Azeroth Commerce Authority for Alliance players.

Lone Wolf Rune

This rune is sold by Grizzby, located in Ratchet. In order to purchase this rune, Grizzby will require you to complete the following pre-quests.

Shredder Turbochargers – You will need to bring Grizzby 16 Shredder Turbocharger. These are acquired by using Shredder Autosalvage Unit on Venture Co. Shredders in the Windshear Crag, Stonetalon Mountains.
Dark Iron Ordinance – You will need to bring Grizzby 20 Dark Iron Ordinance. These are acquired by slaying Dark Iron Insurgent in North Loch Modan, or Dark Iron Rifleman and other Dark Iron dwarves in North Wetlands.
Fish Oil – You will need to bring Grizzby 24 Fish Oil. These are acquired by slaying murlocs in Hillsbrad or Wetlands.

You may also use the Auction House as these items are fairly common.

Kill Command Rune

Head to Stonetalon Mountains and find Jixo Madrocket, located at (/way 59.20, 62.41). He will give you the Wild Wyvern Wrangling quest.

To complete the quest you will need to retrieve two items, a Hypnotic Crystal and a Gnarled Wand of Wild Magic.

The Hypnotic Crystal drops from Mutanus the Devourer, the last boss in the Wailing Caverns Dungeon Strategy Guide – WoW Classic Season of Mastery.
Gnarled Wand of Wild Magic is created by combining a Greater Magic Wand and a Wild Magic Essence, which drops from Furbolgs in Ashenvale (Foulweald Totemic for example).

With these two items in hand, you can turn in the quest. You will receive a follow up quest, Wrangling a Wild Wyvern.

Follow Jixo Madrocket, and watch him tame a Wyvern.

Upon turn in you will get Rune of Kill Command.

You will also earn the Wyvern Taming Wand, which allows you to tame a Young Pridewing – your very own Wyvern!

Sniper Training Rune

Alliance

Darkshore

Head to the coast and look for dead turtles (around /way 47.8, 16.0). In the head of one, you’ll find a Gnarled Harpoon. Head into the water and search for Paxnozz (around /way 48, 15). Use the harpoon to lower the Thresher’s health and kill it to receive this Rune.

Westfall

Drops from the Defias Scout.

Loch Modan

Drops from Kackle around (/way 54, 54).

Horde

The Barrens

Talk to Kilxx by the docks in Ratchet. Purchase a Fishing Harpoon, then head into the bay and find Bruuz circling around a boat underwater (/way 65, 40). Use the harpoon to lower the shark’s health and kill it to receive this Rune.

Heart of the Lion Rune

Kill Carrodin at (/way 42.2, 64.1) in the Thelgen Rock Cave (filled with spiders) in the Wetlands (entrance at /way 53, 64).

Cobra Strikes Rune

Purchase Freshwater Snapper Bait from Zixil, the wandering goblin vendor in Hillsbrad Foothills.

Use the bait on a small fishing boat at the lake, south east of Tarren Mill to spawn Koartul, which will drop the rune when killed.
