12 Classic Weapons Returning for Destiny 2: Into The Light

Bungie shows off a series of 12 beloved weapons that are being brought back into the game for the Into the Light event.

Bungie has revealed more about its upcoming Destiny 2 limited-time event, Into the Light, showing off a series of classic weapons returning to the game. The weapons will be available after Into the Light launches in Destiny 2 on April 9, 2024.

Bungie has changed Destiny 2 and its service model in various ways since its original launch in 2017, and the arrival of The Final Shape expansion will herald a new overhaul to the way Bungie delivers new Destiny 2 content to players. Before that, though, Bungie plans for Into the Light to help tide players over until The Final Shape launches. It also helps that Into the Light is free for all Destiny 2 players, taking any potential sting out of the perception that it’s a “stopgap” measure intended to account for The Final Shape‘s delay.

Destiny 2 Into the Light Returning Classic Weapons

  • Midnight Coup (Hand Cannon)
  • Hung Jury SR4 (Scout Rifle)
  • Blast Furnace (Pulse Rifle)
  • Elsie’s Rifle (Pulse Rifle)
  • Succession (Sniper Rifle)
  • Mountaintop (Special Grenade Launcher)
  • Forbearance (Special Grenade Launcher)
  • Luna’s Howl (Hand Cannon)
  • Falling Guillotine (Sword)
  • Edge Transit (Heavy Grenade Launcher)
  • Hammerhead (Machine Gun)
  • Recluse (Submachine Gun)

During the livestream, Bungie said that the weapons returning with Into the Light are effectively a “greatest hits” list of weapons from Destiny 2 raids, pinnacle pursuits, and other activities. Some of the weapons, like the Midnight Coup handcannon, were exclusive to raids no longer actively in the game, like Leviathan. Others, like the Mountaintop grenade launcher and Recluse submachine gun, were so dominant in PVP that they were “sunset” to help preserve game balance. Into the Light will also add armor sets based on the classic Destiny 2 armor sets from the launch era.

The weapons returning for Destiny 2 Into the Light aren’t strictly the same as their original incarnations, but are reissues with new perk pools and even rare “Limited Edition” versions that drop with new looks and extra perks. So, strictly speaking, the Into the Light Mountaintop probably won’t be as dominant as the original Destiny 2 Mountaintop.
