Get Ready for GCX 2024 – This Week in Destiny 2 July 17th

This Week in Destiny, we are announcing three separate community-focused activities! We love you, and we want your long summer months to be filled with fun moments.

Topics this Week:

  • The next Bungie Foundation livestream.
  • Get ready for GCX 2024.
  • The next Bungie Bounty is upon us.
  • Calling all buildcrafting experts.
  • Our latest #EchoesAOTW winners.
  • Update on Salvation’s Edge Master Challenges

JOIN THE BUNGIE FOUNDATION FOR LIVE CHAOS AND SURPRISES

Guardians, your support of the Bungie Foundation during this year’s Bungie Day campaign has been tremendous. Already over $1.6 million has been raised to support the Foundation’s work, and we’re not done yet. Mark your calendars for July 25 at 10 AM PT when the Bungie Foundation will be hosting a livestream on their Twitch channel to broadcast the semifinals and finals of the inaugural Seventh Column Chaos PvP tournament!

The Crucible action will be turned up to 11 with added chaos determined live by the audience of special guests from the world of Destiny, appearing in-studio. There will be some truly exclusive rewards available for those who tune-in. We’ll be rolling out our Wheel of Chaos once again, and a new toy will be debuting to really test if we can “stomach” the chaos. Trust us, you won’t want to miss this. Help us close out this campaign strong and make more of the Bungie Foundation’s vital work across the globe possible.

There’s still time to donate and earn this year’s awesome slate of incentives, including the Graphite Daydreams emblem and the Disciple’s Shell + Lubraean Luxury shader bundle. Head to our campaign page to learn more and donate today.

Thanks again for the support, it means the world universe to us. 💙

TAKE ME TO FLORIDA

We’re excited to announce that Bungie will be partnering with GCX again this year, and we will be sending a small team away to join the fun down in Orlando, Florida, on August 16 and 17. Dmg04 and Cozmo will be there, along with a few other Bungie folks to meet up with players. Say hi if you see them!

GCX will be offering A Shared Dream emblem for anyone who donates $60 to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital during the charity marathon that runs until July 19. Click this link to donate now. Wait until you see how cool that emblem is!

And that’s not all. GCX will also be offering two playable Destiny 2 experiences that will test your PvP skills, along with a few thousand rewards to sweeten the deal. First up, any players at the event who volunteer to venture into the Crucible will be awarded this Gambit medallion, a long-treasured keepsake from events passed that hasn’t been available for several years.

We’ll also harken back to a previous GCX event and give you a choice to make: you can cling to your newfound reward and hold it close forever, or risk it in the fiery Crucible for something shinier. Attendees at the event can play again and drop their token in the bowl for a chance to win this very special Crucible pin, if and only if they emerge victorious!

PVP TOURNAMENT

Think you have what it takes? Then step up and join the GCX 3v3 Challenge presented by the Bungie Foundation! Live from the floor of GCX, participants will battle to earn their spot to compete on stage against some of the best Destiny players in the world.

This two-day event begins on Friday, August 16, when registered players will compete head-to-head in a bracket-style qualification tournament, and only one team will be left standing. On Saturday, August 17, the qualifying team will appear live on center stage for the finals and a chance at glory. Who will they be up against, you ask?

THE NEXT BUNGIE BOUNTY STARTS ON JULY 23

But what if you can’t attend GCX? Well, we have another community-driven celebration planned… the Bungie Bounty! You know the drill: We select a few content creators from all over the planet and have them play in specific time slots. Then those of you matching with them will have a chance to earn the very exclusive Aurora Clash emblem.

Bungie Bounties are focused on Ritual activities: Vanguard Ops, Crucible, or Gambit. If you help a creator complete a Vanguard Ops, you win the emblem. If you jump into PvP or Gambit to get the bounty, this could go one of two ways:

  1. You’ll help creators win the match if you are on their team.
  2. You’ll be part of the opposing team and defeat them.

We will be watching closely, so be extra nice no matter what.

The Bungie Bounty will be running for three weeks this time, so you’ll have plenty of opportunities to match up and get that sweet emblem. Check out who the creators are and when they’re playing in the schedule below!

SHOW US YOUR BUILDS

Guardians, you’ve conquered Light and Darkness. You could take on any challenge the universe throws at you and are an inspiration for New Lights. But why be only an inspiration when you could help them reach their full potential and get a cool emblem on the side?

Now that new weapons and an additional row of perks for the Seasonal Artifact have arrived in Act 2 of Echoes, we want all the buildcrafting experts to share their favorites builds. Whether they’re DPS-focused, designed more for solo survivability, helpful for healing your teammates, or one-trick ponies that are fun even if they’re not that meta, we want to see them all!

Just share a breakdown of why you like this particular build and of course all the required info so others can replicate it. Text, screencaps, and links to apps or websites are all totally fine, and you can even send videos if you’d like. Just make sure to use the #BuildOfTheWeek hashtag  so we can find it,. If we select your submission, you’ll get the very cool, very limited Photoionization emblem. Best of luck!

YOU ALL MADE FAILSAFE VERY HAPPY

It’s been three wonderful weeks of watching you all create incredible art focused on Act 1 of Echoes. As the story moves forward with Act 2 this week, we have chosen our latest #EchoesAOTW winners. Thank you for sharing your talents with us. You truly are the best gaming community in the world.

UPDATE ON MASTER RAID CHALLENGES

Over the last few weeks, we’ve been investigating an issue where Master Challenges in Salvation’s Edge were not being tracked upon completion by the Ignited Light Triumph. While we issued a fix on Tuesday this week to further prevent the issue, we were unable to retroactively credit players with previous completions. This was one of the rougher bugs to come by, as the difficulty experienced in these encounters is grand, and raid challenges are only available one at a time on a weekly schedule.

A few Bungie teams came together to see if we could do anything to help players in this situation. We know how important raid accomplishments can be for players, so we did a little digging. Sometimes we don’t have any options to leverage, but in this case, we lucked out!

Starting July 23, all Master Challenges will be active for one week, until July 30 before maintenance time. This will provide an opportunity for all to earn their Turmoil Engine Sparrow, acquire their Iconoclast title, and earn some additional Adept weapons along the way.
