Changes to Holy Priest in The War Within

In The War Within, many classes have received significant changes to their talent trees and tuning. One of the new features in The War Within are the Hero Talents, unlocked at Level 71 and allowing players to choose between two spec-altering Hero Classes.

All Changes in Patch 11.0.0

PRIEST

Flash Heal healing increased by 20%.
Power Word: Shield absorb amount increased by 20%.
Power Word: Life healing increased by 20%.
Cauterizing Shadows healing increased by 60%.
Healing done from Void Shift to the Priest’s ally is now capped at twice the Priest’s Health.
From Darkness Comes Light now increases the healing of Flash Heal by 3% (was 1%), and stacks up to 20 times (was 50).
Prayer of Mending is now removed from all allies except for the last ally that received one from the Priest when a raid encounter begins.
Fixed an issue causing Holy Nova to not benefit from Phantom Reach.
Fixed an issue causing Halo to damage enemies out of combat.
Updated the visuals and animations for Void Shift.
Fixed an issue causing Divine Image’s teleport to fail on transports.
Added a counter to the Heal spell for tracking the status of Lightweaver.

- All damage increased by 10%.
- Heal healing increased by 44%.
- Flash Heal healing increased by 20%.
- Prayer of Healing healing increased by 30%.
- Circle of Healing healing increased by 30%.
- Holy Word: Serenity healing increased by 20%.
- Divine Image’s Healing Light spell healing increased by 20%.
- Healing Chorus now increases the healing done by Circle of Healing by 3% (was 5%).
- Lightweaver now increases Heal healing by 25% (was 15%).
- Fixed an issue causing the values for Gales of Song to be incorrect.
- Trail of Light is now a 1-point talent.

The further we will get into the current expansion, the effects of diminishing returns start to limit the effectiveness of your secondary stats. After reaching 30% through secondary stats (eg. ~19800 Haste) on your gear, you will start receiving a penalty for each further point on your gear. This penalty reduces the gain from more of the same stat over this threshold.

General Rotation for Holy Priest in The War Within Season 1

For both Hero Classes we offer a general rotation overview. Beware that this is not an in-depth guide how to play your favorite class in each situation, but instead grant newer players insight about how to play and master the basics of their class.

Rotation Example for Holy Priest

Place Lightwell pre-pull, replacing it on cooldown when stacks are depleted, or at 5 or less stacks.
Cast Prayer of Mending on cooldown.
Seek to use Divine Word on Holy Word: Sanctify whenever possible on stacked players that are taking consistent damage.
Cast Holy Word: Sanctify on cooldown for AoE healing and Holy Word: Serenity for single-target.
Cast Circle of Healing on cooldown as raid damage allows.
Cast Halo and or Holy Nova at max stacks as damage comes out for AoE healing.
Use Prayer of Healing and Flash Heal, particularly during Apotheosis procs to maximize cooldown reduction.
Cast Divine Hymn or Holy Word: Salvation for raid-wide damage in coordination with your other healers.
Use Symbol of Hope frequently when Desperate Prayer is on cooldown or your allies’ defensives are on cooldown.!
